Of course the price of the truck itself is getting more expensive, not to mention the spareparts, yearly tax, and all. So you must not wait for the ball to come, instead you have to come for the ball.
What I mean is that you have to make a good promotion for your rental service. Use everything you got, by making flyers, posters,and other stuff. And don't be to stingy on using a sales marketing to sell the product and introduce it to the neighbourhood, because every business needs marketing. And more important is the price.
Since commercial truck pricing is high, then you have to offer something different from other competitors. For example if other competitors charge the price by hours, then you charge it by day.Usually people only use trucks for moving, buying something that doesn't fit on their cars, for expedition, etc. So they won't use the truck for more than 5-8 hours, unless the destination is on different city. If that's the case, then you have to charge them for extra fee.
The driver that you hired must have the experience at least 3 years on driving a truck, and must be familiar with the streets on your place. So that he won't get lost and cost you another dime. Also you might aswell chose a driver with a big muscle, so that he can help to pick up the stuff, or whatever your truck is carrying.
In the end, in order to compete with so many competitors, you have to consider 3 things. First thing, the service. Which mean you have to make the costumers satisfy and happy at all cost. Secondly, be on time. For many people, time is everything, so you better not jeopardize the job by coming late. And the last, but also important is the price. Your commercial truck pricing must be competitive, not too expensive, and negotiable. That way you can survive the business, and get more success in the future.
